My brother and his wife arrived a couple of weeks ago for an extended holiday so a great excuse for a bit of a get together. We decided on a Saturday evening barbie and set about organising it and all was going well until the day itself which was just continual rain and no hope of sitting outside. Minor panic attack over it was on to plan b! With a dining room table for 6 and 15 guests we decided to use the wallpapering table and borrow chairs, must admit once a tablecloth was popped on it looked ok. Huge sigh of relief from me and then in the middle of the hoovering the wires snapped and no amount of screws loosened would release the cable so that was the end of the housework! The barbie had to be moved into the carport but not a problem once we have shifted the cars around. Just as the food was ready the rain finally stopped........... The hungry hordes filled their plates and soon found somewhere to sit. Phil did a great job on the meat and Kathy provided yummy puds. When it came to puds the men seemed to gravitate to the carport sampling both options plus the cheese . Lots of chat, a few dinks and much laughter all in all a great evening. Amongst all the adults was my soon to be 6 years old niece and what a beauty she is. Nice to see a little girl enjoying her food and a cup of tea
I now have a selection of drawings on my fridge and she very nearly beat me at connect 4........
Sunday morning the sun was shining so we at last hard a barbie outside and the bacon and eggs Phil whipped up tasted lovely. Ray & Viv had not been to Gunwharf Quays so we all headed off there for a little retail therapy and fresh air. This time it was the boys parting with their cash.
All to soon had to face the clearing up but with the hoover out of action not a chore I could complete so now its time to relax and chill a little before work tomorrow.
